Never heard that one before - certainly one of the most unbelievable things I've heard too. I'm sure it was Mick. The drum intro was borrowed from Buddy Rich in fact, and apparently (think it's in Steve Priest's book) when Mick first had the idea of trying it on 'Blitz' it transformed the song from one they thought was OK into the classic we all know.
The bit about Cozy was on a site about him.
I wrote about Buddy Rich on the glam roots thread. Mick's "Man With The Golden Arm" was good, both live and studio.
